Besides being incredibly condescending to women, even at the time, it’s looking far more awful now when new research has come out, showing that no, it wasn’t all in their pretty little heads.
Even now, with this evidence of real changes, they are still downplaying the significance of these findings. Women’s menses are a fundamental window into women’s health, and should never be downplayed, especially on this scale. And this article only examined data from women who were actively tracking their cycles and not using hormonal birth control. This ignores the whole group of far postmenopausal women who suddenly have started ‘cycling’ again post-shot or women who are using hormonal birth control or may have a number of other pertinent conditions.
